John Castle
John R. Castle, Jr. is an attorney based in Dallas. He has served as a Trustee of The Trinity Forum and is a regular Moderator.
He is a former Executive Vice President of EDS Corporation, where he served from 1988 to 1999. EDS is a global information technology company doing business in over 50 countries, with over 125,000 employees and revenues of approximately $19 billion. Castle’s EDS responsibilities included legal affairs, corporate communications, community affairs, government affairs, and public relations. He served most recently on EDS’s Management Board.
Prior to joining EDS, he was a partner in the Dallas law firm of Hughes & Luce from 1974 until 1988.
Mr. Castle graduated in 1964 from the University of Texas with honors and in 1967 from the University of Texas School of Law with honors. He has served as president of the University of Texas Law School Alumni Association and currently is a trustee of the UT Law School Foundation. He is a member of the American, Texas, and Dallas bar associations and is a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. In 1998, Castle received the ADL Jurisprudence Award.
Castle serves on the board of directors of the Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture, Central Dallas Ministries, Paul Quinn College, SMU Perkins School of Theology, the Dallas Foundation, and the National Bible Association, and he chairs the Advisory Board of On-Target Supplies and Logistics. He has previously served on the Boards of the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce, the Points of Light Foundation, and The Trinity Forum.
He and his wife, Dorothy, have a daughter, Amy, who is a lawyer in Dallas. They are members of the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation where he has served on the vestry. Castle currently chairs a strategic planning committee for the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas.
