The Trinity Forum was pleased to partner with Montgomery Bell Academy and St. Paul Christian Academy to present “Preserving Democracy Amidst Deep Division”, a special virtual Evening Conversation with Robert P. George and Cornel West.

Dr. George and Dr. West would seem to have little in common politically, ideologically, or stylistically. But they share a deep friendship, a common faith, and a long-standing collaboration to encourage “the cultivation and practice of the virtues of intellectual humility, openness of mind, and above all, love of truth.”

While every election brings uncertainty and anxiety, the events of this year seem particularly divisive and alienating. Tribalism and unrest have, in many cases, shaken public confidence in the strength of democratic principles. George and West show, as well as tell, how friendship across difference is good for the soul, as well as good for the country — a message particularly salient in our polarized time.
