Can Beauty Save the World?: an Evening Conversation with Makoto Fujimura and Dana Gioia
Our world is awash in words and images. Does it really matter if they are beautiful? Can we separate content from its context, meaning from presentation, and function from form without losing something of true value?
Visual artist Makoto Fujimura and poet Dana Gioia are uniquely equipped to consider these questions. Through their numerous books, paintings, and poems, they have considered the meaning of beauty as it relates to fallen people in a fallen world.
In partnership with Montgomery Bell Academy and St. Paul Christian Academy, The Trinity Forum is celebrating 10 years of our work in Nashville by bringing back two renowned speakers for a special anniversary Evening Conversation. Artist Makoto Fujimura and poet Dana Gioia will join us on Wednesday, April 5 at 5:30 p.m. to consider the proper place of beauty in our lives and in the world. Note our earlier start time for this event, as the evening will begin with appetizers and drinks at 5:30 p.m., followed by remarks and audience questions, and will conclude at 7:30 p.m.
